Terms of Service
Effective 21 October 2026
These terms cover the Ossintheus website (ossintheus.app) and the application at dash.ossintheus.app (together, “the Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it. How personal data is handled is set out separately in the privacy notice.
01Who we are
Ossintheus is run by a private individual in Hungary while its company (Kft.) is being registered. Once the company is registered it takes over these terms, and we will tell account holders. You can reach us at [email protected].
02Who may use it
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- The Service is meant for professional and research use: investigators, journalists, security teams, researchers and similar. Access is granted by us and can be refused.
- If you sign up on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may bind it to these terms.
03Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. Seats on a plan are for named people and may not be shared. You are responsible for what is done through your account, including by collaborators you add to a case.
04Lawful use — the important part
Ossintheus gathers information that is already publicly available. Gathering it can still involve personal data, and you are responsible for having a lawful reason for every search you run and every case you build, under the GDPR and any other law that applies to you. You must not use the Service to:
- stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate or dox anyone, or help someone else do so;
- locate or monitor a person without a lawful basis, including partners, ex-partners or family members;
- discriminate against people, or make decisions about their employment, housing, credit or insurance based solely on its results;
- gain unauthorised access to any account, system or device, or test systems you are not authorised to test;
- break the terms of the sites and sources the Service reads, overload them, or resell or bulk-redistribute their data;
- scrape, resell, reverse-engineer or work around the limits of the Service itself;
- investigate children, except where you are acting lawfully to protect them.
We may ask you to explain the purpose of a case. We may suspend or close an account, without refund, where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, and we will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.
05What results are, and are not
Results are leads, not findings. A handle on a site is not proof that the same person owns it; sources are wrong, out of date or deliberately misleading; and a check can report a false positive or miss something that exists. Dated data is shown with its date and should be read as of that date. Verify anything before you rely on it, publish it, or act on it against a person. The decision is always yours.
06Plans and payment
- Prices are per month, in euros, as listed on the plans section or agreed with you in writing. Plans are bought by writing to [email protected].
- Plans renew monthly until cancelled. You can cancel at any time by email; the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid, and paid periods are not refunded except where the law requires it.
- Daily and monthly allowances are enforced by the application and do not roll over.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice; a change applies from your next period.
- If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep your statutory rights. By asking us to start the Service straight away, you acknowledge that your 14-day right of withdrawal ends once the Service has been fully provided, and that for a partly used period you pay for what was provided.
07Your content
Cases, notes and files you add stay yours. You give us the permission needed to store and process them to run the Service for you, and nothing more. You confirm you have the right to upload them. What we keep, and for how long, is in the retention summary and the privacy notice.
08Our software and third-party sources
The Service, its design and its code belong to us or our licensors; you get a personal, non-transferable right to use it while your account is active. Data from third-party sources belongs to those sources and is shown with its origin. We do not control those sources and are not responsible for what they publish or for their availability.
09Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features, sources and modules can change or be removed, often because a source changed. We may update these terms; for material changes we give account holders at least 14 days’ notice by email, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them.
10Liability
The Service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or data, or for decisions you make based on results, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Hungarian or EU law.
You agree to compensate us for claims brought by others because of your unlawful use of the Service or your breach of section 04.
11Ending the agreement
You can stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may end it with 30 days’ notice, or immediately for a serious breach of these terms. After closure your data is removed according to the retention rules in the privacy notice.
12Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Hungarian law, and the courts of Hungary have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim there. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
